Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce-A Partnership

ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES

Mitchell Area Preferred Business Directory: A new Chamber member directory will distributed to Chamber members by mid-March to early April. Members will receive high visibility through categorical listings. This community profile and product/services guide will be available at the Chamber office.

Map: The Chamber coordinates the publication of a city map with a distribution of over 70,000 annually. Members only may advertise.

The Chamberview: Each month this Chamber publication is distributed to every household in Mitchell subscribing to the Daily Republic Newspaper, reaching 16,000 readers. Very affordable broad exposure advertising is also available to members through display advertising.

Mitchell Visitor’s Guide: This guide from the Convention Visitors Bureau is distributed to 50,000 annually in every motel, campground, restaurant, service station, rest areas and in all convention, tourist and relocation packets. Chamber members are highlighted.

City Tear Off Map: Members are distinguished in this short “tear-off” version of the visitor’s guide published by the Convention Visitors Bureau.

Grand Openings/Ribbon Cuttings: These ceremonies, which increase the visibility of new or expanding businesses, are provided to members free and are attended by Chamber officials.  The event also provides free ChamberView Newsletter coverage to the host business, which includes a caption with a photo. (For members only.)

Member Sponsorships: High visibility and advertising value is offered to members who sponsor a Chamber activity, such as the Mix & Mingle, Coffee Days at the Sale Barn, DakotaFest Flyer, DakotaFest Women’s Brunch, Ag in the Classroom, Corn Palace Beef Show, and more. As event sponsors, the member’s business name is prominently displayed and promoted. Pre-event publicity and mailings afford them broad advertising exposure at no additional cost above their sponsorship fee.

Chamber Spotlight: This feature runs every other Monday in The Daily Republic offering Chamber members an opportunity to have their business featured for free. A great advertising tool.



NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

Mix & Mingle: These events are limited to 4 - 6 per year and are typically from 4:30 – 6:00 PM. These networking events bring together an average of 150+ people. Thess evetns are free to those attending and are a great networking opportunity.  More
information and guidelines are available from the Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce.

Mitchell Business Day at the Legislature: Held each February at the Pierre State Capital, this event affords 35-40 participants a great networking experience.   The event, sponsored by the Governmental Affairs Committee, coincides with the SD State Chamber’s Business Day and gold Star Banquet and is a fun filled, productive and informative day.

Cracker Barrel Sessions: Members enjoy Saturday mornings discussing key legislation with state officials while state is in session. A great way to stay informed of bills before the floor that may affect small businesses and farming in the area.

Committees: Members may participate in any of our active and dynamic committees, covering a wide range of interests including Agri-Business, Ambassadors Club, City Beautification, Education, Governmental Affairs, Health Services, or The Network.

 

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES

Mailing Labels: For members, complete direct mailing information to over 500 Mitchell area businesses on ready to use labels for just $50, allowing you to develop a database of business prospects. Non-members pay $200!

Business/Visitor Referral Service: Each year the Chamber receives thousands of calls and e-mails. Referrals of Chamber members are given to tourists, hunters and those interested in relocating to the Mitchell area, the business community and the general population (all potential customers).  Members are always referred to these inquirers first.

Promotional Displays: Only members can display their cards and promotional materials in the Chamber office lobby– exposure to thousands yearly.

Tax Deductibility: Membership in the Chamber is tax deductible as a necessary business expense.

Leadership Mitchell: Provides developing leaders a broad view of the Mitchell area with training and guidance on developing the process of business change and growth. New classes begin every year and include a trip to the state legislature in session.

Certificates of Origin: Documentation necessary for overseas shipments – the Chamber provides this certification free.

Resource Center: Information resources are available at the Chamber – examples includes community demographics, a community calendar, local and area phone directories, SBA publications, clubs and organizations list, major employers and industrial directory, local, area, state and national government contacts, local and state maps and statewide visitor information (SD Vacation guide).

Advocate for Business: The Chamber is the voice of the business community in local, county and state issues representing the business community in problem solving, promoting economic development, etc.

 

OTHER BENEFITS

Business Seminars: These professionally conducted and informative seminars are offered through-out the year, assisting businesses and their employees in becoming more successful.

Small Business Counseling: Contact with a Small Business Development Center representative.

Sound System: Chamber members have access to using our portable sound system with only a security deposit required.

Notary Public Service: This necessary service is provided free as a courtesy of the Chamber.

Check Fraud Alert Program: A program to notify Chamber members of problems with bad checks and credit cards being used in the community when initiated by the police department.

Community Calendar of Events: Monthly in the Chamberview newsletter an updated calendar of all community events is published.  A current calendar of events can also be found on the Chamber web site – www.cornpalace.com

Meeting Room: The Chamber offers its boardroom for use to Chamber members upon availability.

Restaurants, Motels, Campgrounds: Noted in the Discover Mitchell Guide. The Chamber assists visitors during tourist season finding accommodations.
