Chamber Ribbon Cuttings
Thank you for your interest in holding a Chamber ribbon cutting. For your information, the Ambassador's Club has developed this information sheet on ribbon cuttings.
Business requesting a ribbon cutting must be one of the following:

New owner in the Mitchell area.

New location in the Mitchell area.

Change of name (only if requested by business)

Special celebrations, i.e. 100th anniversaries (approval basis)
These events will be scheduled Monday-Friday between the business hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm.
What happens at a ribbon cutting?

A master of ceremonies (emcee) introduces the business owner.

The business owner/manager comments on his/her business.

A Chamber official presents the business with a Community Development certificate.

A group gathers to actually cut the ribbon while photo is taken by a Chamber staff member.

Ribbon cuttings last approximately 15-20 minutes.

Businesses may provide refreshments during or following the event at their own expense.
A ribbon cutting if free of charge.
To allow for adequate Chamber representation, preferred times for ribbon cuttings are mid-morning and/or mid-afternoon, Monday-Friday.
When scheduling a ribbon cutting, please allow as much notice as possible preferably 10 working days so proper arrangements may be made.
What preparations for ribbon cuttings does the Chamber do?

Coordination with business owner/manager obtaining correct information. Business owner/manager provides information on people they desire to speak, of whom they want in the actual ribbon cutting photograph.

Coordination with emcee and other Chamber officials.

Preparation of Ribbon Cutting program.

Preparation of certificate.

Invitations are mailed to all Chamber Board of Directors adn Ambassador's Club members.
What does the Chamber provide for the actual ribbon cutting ceremony?

Scissors

Community Development Award

Chamber photographer and camera
Ribbon cutting photos are published in the Chamber Newsletter. The Chamber Newsletter is inserted into the Daily Republic monthly.
Media- If the business desires media coverage, they need to make a personal contact.
