    Job Description

    This position operates heavy equipment in the construction, repair, and maintenance of public works infrastructure and/or in support of the operations of the city landfill.

    Duties include the operation of backhoe, front-end loader, motor grader, bucket truck, dump truck, fork-lift and other heavy equipment.  Performs snow removal duties; operates equipment and spreads sand and salt. Makes street repairs; seals cracks; patches potholes; applies seal coat.  Operates compactor to spread and compact solid waste.  Collects solid waste and yard debris and transport to landfill as needed.

    Minimum qualifications include ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.  Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid South Dakota Class B CDL with tanker and brake endorsement.

    This position starting wage is $23.546 per hour.
