Dr. Amy Novak - President, DWU
Amy Novak became the first female president of Dakota Wesleyan University in 2013. During her tenure, the university has experienced record enrollment, retention, and fundraising success. The institution recently opened a 50,000 square foot science center, and in February of 2016 celebrated the opening of a 90,000 square foot sport and wellness center. This year the university will break ground on a theater and welcome center, all fully funded by donor support.
Novak credits a dedicated team with a clear and bold vision for spearheading the momentum the university is now experiencing. Partnerships with business and industry to strengthen academic offerings, and enhance the student experience have been critical to the institution’s growth. The university’s curriculum includes required coursework in innovation, creativity and problem solving as well as a four-year program designed to prepare students for the life skills critical to post-college success.
Dr. Novak completed her B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, M.S. from Wright State University, and her doctorate from Creighton University. She and her husband Ken are parents to eight children ages 8 to 20 and delight in being parents to the 900+ students who call DWU home.
