Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce to Host CO. STARTERS Cohort #2
Mitchell, S.D., August 1, 2023 – The Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce is launching its second cohort for the CO. STARTERS Business Accelerator Program in Mitchell. In partnership with Dakota Resources, Startup Sioux Falls, and the Small Business Administration, the Mitchell Chamber strives to create an ecosystem to support local entrepreneurs, small businesses and startups in the Mitchell area. The no cost, ten-session, cohort-based program called CO. STARTERS will begin in October and run through December 2023.
Laura Klock, co-owner of Farm Life Creamery near Ethan, South Dakota, and President and Founder of area non-profit, Helping with Horsepower shared, “I wish this training had been available years ago! The tools and network participants will gain work great for a start-up or even an existing business wishing to grow stronger or introduce new products.”
Klock will be one of the facilitators for the training along with Matt Doerr, CPA at Salt and Light Group and co-owner of The Collective here in Mitchell.
Doerr said, “If you're intrigued about the program, need help with the next step in your business, or looking for resources, join us! The program is full of material that you'll likely find more simple and helpful than any education course you've taken before. It will be interactive and constructive. Don't wait for things to be perfect until you get started.”
CO. STARTERS helps turn ideas into action and action into a sustainable business. It is an effective and proven program designed to provide support, structure, and resources to entrepreneurs. The only requirement is that a participant must have a concept ‘ready to test’ and be willing to study, shape, and fine-tune that concept in a collaborative, welcoming, and supportive environment.
The Small Business Administration has provided the funding for this free training. Participants will hear from guest speakers including specialists and professionals from the Mitchell area. You will have access to branding, legal and finance agencies, as well as other entrepreneurs. Enrollment is open August 1, 2023 and available at https://www.mitchellchamber.com/accelerate-mitchell. The first session will begin on October 3, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at the Mitchell Chamber of Commerce office. Deadline for enrollment is September 15, 2023. The sessions will feature course work, guest speakers, and a light meal will be provided.
