The Mitchell Chamber is a non-profit business that creates possibilities for a prosperous business environment. Chamber Membership unites you with over 500 businesses to stimulate economic vitality. The Mitchell Chamber offers many committees that are actively engaged in the community and focus on business growth and development.

Our programming involves a variety of activities designed to benefit business growth and development through the processes of promoting, connecting and enriching the Mitchell area business community.


Business/Visitor Referral Service: Members are always referred first and foremost. Each year the Chamber receives thousands of calls and e-mails. Referrals of Chamber members are given to tourists, inquiring businesses, hunters, those interested in relocating to the Mitchell area, the business community and the general population (all potential customers).

ChamberView: Each month this newsletter is distributed to every household that subscribes to The Daily Republic, reaching 25,000 readers. The newsletter covers various topics and upcoming events in the Mitchell area. The ChamberView can also be found on-line at Affordable broad exposure advertising is available to members through display advertising.

Monday Memo: A weekly update distributed via email to over 2,000 Chamber contacts every Monday. Two coupon spaces are available each week for members to promote their special occasions, sales, or other business events.

Member Sponsorships: High visibility and advertising value is offered to members who sponsor Chamber activities; such as a Mix & Mingle, the Golf Classic, Coffee Days at the Salebarn, are just to name a few. As an event sponsor, the member’s business name is prominently displayed and promoted. Pre-event publicity offers members broad advertising exposure. Ribbon Cuttings & Ground Breaking: These ceremonies increase the visibility of new or expanding businesses. Provided to members free, these events also provide extra business exposure and Chamber media coverage.

Chamber Spotlight: This feature runs every other Monday in The Daily Republic offering Chamber members an opportunity to get their business featured for free. A great advertising tool!

Calendar of Events: This is a great way to share your business events. Events are listed in the ChamberView and on the Chamber website at

Membership Decal: The membership decal communicates good corporate citizenship and the importance of the Mitchell area business community.

Mitchell Visitor Guide: Members are especially noted in this guide from the Mitchell Convention & Visitors Bureau. Distributed to 100,000 annually in various motels, campgrounds, restaurants, service stations, rest areas and in all convention, tourist and relocation packets.

City Tear-Off Map: Members are distinguished in this short “tear-off” version of the visitor’s guide published by the Mitchell Convention & Visitors Bureau.


Chamber Mix & Mingle: These networking events bring together an average of 175 people to celebrate your business. These events are limited to 6 per year and offer a great networking opportunity for you to spread the word about your business.

Mitchell Business Day at the Legislature: Held each February in Pierre at South Dakota’s State Capital. The event is sponsored by the Governmental Affairs Committee, coincides with the SD State Chamber’s Business Day.  Participates have a chance to learn about state government and issues affecting the Mitchell area.

Cracker Barrel Sessions: Members enjoy Saturday morning discussions on key legislation with local legislators during the SD State Legislative session. This is a great way to stay informed of bills before the floor that may affect businesses and farming in the area.

Ag-in-the-Classroom: Offered to 4th graders from Mitchell and area schools. Students learn about farm animals such as, dairy, beef, horses, sheep, and pigs. In addition, they also learn about soil, crops and the importance of safety around electricity and farm machinery.

DakotaFest Women’s Brunch: Held in conjunction with DakotaFest, the Women’s Brunch gives women the opportunity to get together with friends and relax with some motivational entertainment. Last year, over 450 women were in attendance!

Chamber Golf Classic: Members enjoy a day of golf while doing business on the green.

Annual Banquet: Members have the opportunity to network with over 350 members while celebrating each members success while enjoying dinner and entertainment.

Leadership Mitchell: Designed to support the development of future leadership for individuals with particular emphasis on specific skills and collaborative leadership. This program targets individuals who are actively seeking positive changes in response to civic, government, business and industry changes in the Mitchell Area by providing training in areas strategic to the well-being of our community.

Health & Wellness Fair: This annual health fair draws over 1,000 people each year and offers a variety of health screenings including: Full lipid profile, blood sugar, blood pressure, prostate screening, bone density, and blood typing. In addition to screenings the fair offers a variety of children’s activities designed to promote physical activity, nutrition, and safety at home and at school.

Candidate & Issue Forums: Participants hear from candidates running for local office or debating issues that affect the Mitchell area.

Legislative Luncheons: Participates have the chance to hear from SD State Chamber President regarding issues from the pre and post Legislative session.

Committees: Members may participate in any of our active and dynamic committees, covering a wide range of interests including Ag-Business, Ambassadors, Governmental Affairs, Health Services, The Network, and Workforce Development.

Mailing Labels: Members only have access to over 500 Chamber businesses with ready to use labels for a low fee of $50, or a business representatives list with over 1,100 contacts for $100; allowing you to develop a database of business prospects. Future members pay $400!


Membership: For simply being a Chamber member, your return on investment will astonish you. As a Mitchell Area Chamber Member, you automatically receive all of the following benefits, no effort required.

  • Business directory listings, brochures displayed in Chamber office display racks, membership decal, monthly ChamberView newsletter, weekly Monday Memo e-newsletter, use of meeting room and equipment, tax deduction for voice, opportunity to promote your business through testimonials. Business Training Workshops: These professionally conducted and informative seminars are offered through-out the year, assisting businesses in becoming more successful by addressing “How to” topics and issues affecting businesses in particular.

Advocate for Business: The Chamber works to strengthen the local economy, create jobs and serve as a voice for business. We advocate for business on the local, regional, state and federal level by hosting public forums, meeting with legislators and congressional leaders.

Small Business Counseling: Referrals to SBA business counseling with a Small Business Development Center representative by calling the Chamber at 605-996-5567.

Additional Benefits

Certificates of Origin: Documentation necessary for overseas shipments – the Chamber provides this certification free.

Resource Center: Information resources are available at the Chamber – examples includes community demographics, a community calendar, local and area phone directories, SBA publications, clubs and organization lists, major employers and industrial directory, local, area, state and national government contacts, local and state maps and statewide visitor information (SD Vacation guide).

P.A. System: Chamber members have access to using our sound system with only a security deposit required.

Notary Public Service: This necessary service is provided free as a courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce.

Check Alert Program: An email program to notify Chamber members of problems with bad checks and credit cards being used in the community when initiated by the police department.

Meeting Room: The Chamber offers its boardroom for use to Chamber members upon availability. Please call ahead to schedule.

Mitchell Money:

Available in $5 increments to members, community, individuals and businesses. This ‘money’ is in the form of a check and can be spent at any business in Mitchell. They are used as a bonus/incentive by companies, as a gift, or for prize drawings and contests. Each year over $85,000 flows through Mitchell merchants in the form of Mitchell Money and keeps spending local.
